Erring as we do a tiny bit on the side of ambitious, we launched TEDxGranta with a full-blown, all-day event. As luck (and hard work) would have it, it was a success. As we thought about the TED motto of “ideas worth sharing”, we realised that there were groups in Cambridge that shared a similar meme-spreading goal, and so we decided to partner with one of them and run a TEDx Salon.
What’s a TEDxSalon?
A TEDxSalon is a smaller, informal event than the grand all-day events you’re likely familiar with. Small but perfectly formed, as they feature all the things that make TEDx events great: Enthralling live speakers, streamed TEDTalks, and thoughtful discussions.
Tell me about Telling Stories
It’s with great pleasure that we announce a joint event with CamCreative on the theme of Telling Stories. CamCreative is a gathering of people from all walks of creative endeavour in the Cambridge area, and the evening promises to be full of literature, photography, comics and laughs.
Our main speaker will be Cathy Moore, founder of the Cambridge Wordfest literary festival (as it happens, the Winter Wordfest is just around the corner in chilly November, so follow Wordfest on Twitter to stay up to date as their plans develop).
Sounds Great! What’s the plan for the evening?
Cathy Moore will be taking a literary angle on the Telling Stories theme. Her talk will be complemented by two TEDTalks focusing on telling stories through photography and the comic book format. Expect an informal event with lots of opportunities for discussions, networking and friendly banter along the way!
