Latest event: Alive & Kicking

On Friday 9th March 2012, we staged TEDxGranta: Alive & Kicking, a fantastic, all-day event.

True to the spirit of TED & TEDx events, the theme explored a wide variety of human endeavours from the science of life, social and ecological issues, and the things that make life worth living: relationships, purpose, and the arts.

Speakers for the event included:

- David Constantine MBE, Co-founder of Motivation

- Merlin Crossingham, Creative Director of Wallace & Gromit

- Tim Hayward, Food writer and saviour of Cambridge favourite, Fitzbillies

- Gil Karpas, Soulful singer-songwriter

- Shelley Katz, Pianist and Music technologist

- Kirsten Lavers, Founder of FLACK, Cambridge

- Tim Minshall, Senior Lecturer, Institute of Manufacturing, Cambridge University

- Tim Morley, Linguist and teacher of Esperanto

- Ross Sargent, Co-founder, Cambridge Kung Fu

- Eben Upton, Co-founder of The Raspberry Pi Foundation

The event was held at the Junction’s J2 venue, and the fun included all that you would expect from a day’s TEDx experience:

  • A fast-paced, highly curated  program featuring TED’s famous 18-minute talks, as well as some 5 minute slots to tweak the curiosity and pose thought-provoking ideas.
  • Rich opportunities to connect with other inspiring participants
  • Dynamic conversation breaks, where attendees and speakers delve into the ideas introduced on stage

We’d like to thank our fantastic sponsors and speakers for helping us to make TEDxGranta: Alive & Kicking such an amazing day.
